Books

While there are many books espousing the virtues of Multi-Level marketing, there are many others that do not. On this page, I have identified several books that are available at Amazon Books which show you the "other side" of Multi-Level marketing.

Please note that even though I have provided links to the books at Amazon so that you can purchase these books, if desired, I have not set up an account with Amazon to get credit for these purchases. Unlike some pro-Amway sites, I have no desire to profit by providing these references. Since I'm not supporting any AMO system right now, I don't need the extra money.

The Millionaire Next Door : The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy
by Thomas J. Stanley Ph. D, William D. Danko Ph.D

Many Amway distributors will use a comment such as "if you want to be wealthy, you need to listen to people who have done it." This book is an excellant source of information that reveals how millions, yes, millions of Americans have become wealthy. Most of the secrets revealed are directly opposite of what is taught in MLM's.

False Profits : Seeking Financial and Spiritual Deliverance in Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Schemes
by Robert L. Fitzpatrick, Joyce K. Reynolds

False Profits is an in-depth examination of the multi-level marketing industry and related illegal pyramid scheme phenomenon which have grown rapidly in the US and abroad in the last 15 years. The examination looks at the MLM field from the perspective of its social, personal and spiritual effects on those enrolled and solicited.

The Network Marketing Game : Gospel Perspectives on Multi-Level Marketing
by Jon M. Taylor, Cal Grondahl (Illustrator)

Two years of research and interviews with hundreds of people in a wide variety of Network Marketing ventures, this books assesses the pros and cons, from an ethical perspective, of this type of business arrangement, especially for those who subscribe to an LDS (Mormon) code of ethics--which is essentially the same as the Judeo-Christian code.

Amway : The Cult of Free Enterprise
by Stephen Butterfield

Although this book is out of print, it can still be found. This book, along with Phil Kearns', Fake It Til You Make It: Inside Amway were the first two exposes of Amway. If you read either of these books, you will be amazed at how little has changed.

Uncommon Freedom: The Other Side -- Escaping The Amway Deception
by Kenny D. Bridges

This book is not available from Amazon, but I have provided a link to Kenny's website.

Kenny's Amway experience began in November of 1991. Although not connected with the Britt Organization through actual line-of-sponsorship, all of his teaching and training came from that system of Amway. After reaching the Silver Producer level in 15 months, he, along with some of his downline, discovered some improprieties in his upline organization. Additionally, he began to see the Amway mind control tactics used by the Britt Organization and his upline, for what they really are.

He then entered into a 2 1/2 year battle with his upline organization, and subsequently, Amway Corporation. The details of the Bridges' Amway experience and the results of the fight with Amway are contained in this book.

If you wish, you can also visit any of the Amway Untold Stories mirror sites on my links page. There is a ton of books, articles and other sources of information about Amway.
