Last Update: Jul 31, ,2004 Do you have more on Team in Focus? Write me.
Site visitors report that John Terhune and Marshall Douglas are no longer affiliated with TEAMINFOCUS and are now involved with Oasis.
Is "Team in Focus" having cash flow problems or just administrative problems? Listen to this .mp3 phone message.
18 Diamonds from "Team in Focus" broke off from Quixtar in March of 2002. These diamonds were:
|
Andy & Polly Andrews, Gerry & Sharon Betterman, Gayle Collinsworth, Doug & Julie Cassens, John & Susan Haagen, Marc & Shelli Hellinghausen, Mike & Lynn Jakubik, Barry & Luronda Joye, Adrian & Sue Lewis, Rick & Eve Maxwell, Bryan & Roxanne Parks, Denny & Lori Plauck, Todd & Brenda Rainsberger, Ron & Melanie Rummel, Frank Zecher, Marshal & Diana Douglas, Jerry & Kay Huffer, John & Pat Terhune. |
What's come to light since then?
Team in Focus wanted to reform the tools business, but curious enough The Coaching Staff promoted by Team in focus is run by none other than the former ProNet tools kingpin.
Don Brindley" is listed as CEO. Team In Focus broke from Quixtar and Pronet in 2002. Don Brindley supposedly sponsored himself at the top of both legs in the binary plan of Team In Focus. Don Brindley is named in the suits by Double Diamond Brig Hart and Crown Kenny Stewart_. It is curious how a group who wanted to reform the tools business uses the main background person in the Pronet group.

Thought you would be interested in knowing that Team in Focus has decided to drop their "Foundation Plan" which mirrored the Amway Sales and Marketing plan, opting instead to become a pure binary system. They have stopped paying the binary bonuses weekly, and are now paying them monthly. Roughly stated, an IBC can earn $25 everytime he and his downline generate 150 points in a 2/3 to 1/3 split between his binary legs. Sounds great until you remember two very important, yet unmentioned, items. First of all, most of the binary structure of TIF was established at TIF's inception by the Founders themselves. Second, Don Brindley is at the top of the pyramid. How many times a day do you think his business "cycles"?
You still have to wonder. Why would a company charge it's sales force to attend meetings designed to increase that same company's income?
Site Visitor 2/21/2003
"Thought you would like to know at the last function Don Brindley reportedly said that no one is making money on tools. He supposedly said that the profits are going into running the corp. What people do not think about is that whether or not the founders are in the l.o.s. they own the company. So while the statement may be technically correct it is so typical of the smoke and mirrors in the language. It only stands to reason that they get paid from the company. ie., the tools."

Is John Terhune still involved with TIF? I see his name on another website: http://www.mihinc.com/company/management.asp. This page from their website says "Our coaches do not promote other opportunities." http://www.mihinc.com/company/index.asp - Site Visitor 4/27/2003
TIF has just raised their tapes prices to over $3.50...up from $3.00 This is following a statement from stage that the prices would decrease. -- Site Visitor 4/27/2003

What became of the Team In Focus MAP Pack?
If it was so legal why was the money offered back. However, please note how it was offered. If you actually took the money back you lost your place in line.
Refund and Exchange Policy for MAP Pack Purchases
Everyone who purchased a MAP Pack is entitled to a full refund, whether or not they also wish to participate in the new TIF opportunity. The refund is $299 for purchasers who return he unused Winslow Assessment certificate and $199 for purchasers who choose to use the Winslow Assessment portion of the MAP Pack. Those who choose to continue working with TIF may either trade in their MAP Pack for a credit and a place in the TIF line of sponsorship or else claim their refund and re-register with TIF. Each option has different advantages, and you should be sure to select the one you believe is best for you.
Here was their refund policy.

From the Team In Focus Website:
|
Commitment to developing the Person "To compliment our world-class products you will find a world-class training system. Team In Focus has created relationships with many of the premier business and personal mentors in the world today to include John Maxwell, Dr. Denis Waitley, Brian Tracy and Zig Ziglar, only to name a few. We have forged partnerships with outside organizations that specialize in personal coaching and e-learning to bring our teammates "the cutting edge" in training. Simply stated, we will set the standard in the industry when it comes to the training and development of our team." |
This gives the impression that it is an outside training system, not owned internally. The owners figured out long ago in Amway that the money is in selling the support system, not in selling products to retail customers.

Another interesting point with Team in Focus group is their website. Read their personal success stories. Do their stories fit the their introduction page with the first item being Integrity?

For instance, read Ron Rummel's success story.
|
"Within 18 months, Ron was able to give up working for someone else entirely. Over the years, he and Melanie built a highly successful and respected inter-national business, creating a team of associates that have become their closest friends." |
In what overseas countries is Team In Focus? Actually the story is from Ron's Amway days. Ron forgot to point out the two IRS tax liens on his Dallas Texas home for
$321,000 and another
$147,000 after he was so successful in the business.

Another one is Frank Zecher. By his profile you would assume he built his success in Team in Focus.
|
"Then he was introduced to this opportunity. Frank recognized the potential of networking right away. Hard work was all he knew, so he committed himself to the task at hand and started building the business." |
However his profile is based upon the business he built in Amway. He and his former wife Dawana were recognized as diamonds in the Amway business in 1994. Team in Focus as a separate entity from Amway/Quixtar is only about one year old as of March 2003.
![]()
Another example is Rick Maxwell.
|
"When Rick and his father were introduced into this business, Rick might have turned down the offer, but his father recommended they get on board with the program. Little did they know that one year later at the age of 53, Rick's father would die of a heart attack. Rick took on the presidency of the three corporations, and the debt was transferred solely to him. Even so, he continued to build the marketing business, and the Maxwell's soon became successful IBCs." |
Of course this story is good for Amway only when they were recognized as Diamonds in the 1992 Amagram. Team in focus was founded years afterwards.

Andy and Polly Andrews present the same smoke and mirrors.
|
"Unfortunately, Andy and Polly were left with no time for each other. Andy was booked to perform at several Team in Focus conventions. After each convention, he would return home to Polly with stories of the people he had met. Polly was apprehensive, but she remained focused and, not long after starting their business, Andy and Polly reached unqualified success as Founders in Team in Focus." |
Just insert Pronet and Amway for each time "Team in Focus" mentioned. The Andrews were featured in the 1995 Amagram for achieving the coveted Diamond status, years before the "Team in focus" group was founded.
![]()
Barry and Luronda Joye imply they Amway days were their "Team in Focus" days as well. The Joye's were recognized as Amway Diamonds in the 1993 Amagram.
|
"Nothing seemed to be exactly what the couple desired. They began to think that their hopes of being financially free might be just a pipe dream until a friend called and introduced them to the business. They promptly joined the team and became IBCs. |
Is "Team in Focus" was in England for about 4 months before it shut up shop taking participants for 200 pounds each.
![]()
Well the record is getting a little old by now. Then there is Bryan and Roxan Parks.
|
"The Parks were introduced to this business through one of Bryan's friends. Bryan's first goal was to generate enough money to start an oil company. Roxanne was skeptical at first but eventually became excited at the prospect of becoming financially free. After a slow start, they developed momentum and were able to retire from the oil fields. Three years later as new Founders, the Parks made more money, jet-setted to more places, had more fun with their children and touched more lives than they ever imagined." |
According to the Park's Amway Profile of success they were introduced to the business.. ah...the Amway business in 1988. They achieve pre-Team in Focus success in 1994 when they were listed in the Amagram as new Amway Diamonds.
![]()
Then there are Denny and Lori Plauk
|
"When they saw the business, Denny hoped that this was their way out. Lori was hesitant to hope or dream for fear of being disappointed. They went to work, first Denny alone, then the two of them together. Whatever they lacked, they made up for with hard work. "Denny and I are winners today because we played hurt," says Lori. Their business began to grow, which was fortunate because Denny's company announced a staff cutback, so the business became their major source of income." |
Just substitute "the business" with "Amway". Team in Focus came years later.

How about Doug and Julie Cassens?
|
"Despite the fact that they were making a combined six-figure income, Doug and Julie were heavily in debt. Around that time, a friend helped them start their own (Awmay) business that emphasized the power of duplication, a concept that was foreign to them. They were only taught to work and then get paid. The concept of building a business that created residual income excited Julie. She saw the potential almost immediately. In a short time, their business reached the level of Founder (Amway Diamond in 1997...5 years before Team In Focus) ." |
![]()
And there is Gayle Collingsworth.
|
"I never thought about getting into business for myself before I saw this (Amway) opportunity," says Gayle. "I had been working very long hours as an English teacher at the secondary level, often up until midnight and beyond grading essays and falling asleep with a red pen in my hand." |
Actually Gayle never got into business by herself. She and her former husband Mike started their Amway business in 1986 were recognized for their Amway diamond status in 1993.
![]()
Gerry Betterman's story is the same Amway bait and switch cover-up story.
|
"Gerry admits that at first he didn't adapt very well to the training system of books, tapes, meetings and upline support. "I prided myself on being an independent thinker," he says. "As a result, I took longer getting to Founder (AmwayDiamond) than I might have." Gerry's commitment paid off when he left his job at age 34 to devote all his time to his business. In a couple of years, he walked across the stage as a new Founder (aka AmwayDiamond). " |
Gary started in 1985 and was recognized as an Amway diamond in a 1991 Amagram.

Has the integrity and ethics of Team In Focus improved over their Amway days?
