spanking1.JPG (6086 bytes)It will go down in public relations history.  Quixtar's web initiative to drown those pesky negative information websites in a sea of worthless and repetitive hits has backfired. 

It seems Google is officially spanking Quixtar for its attempt to "Google bomb" the Internet's most popular search engine.  A search on Google for "Quixtar" will reveal that the Quixtar.com site, which formerly always held the number one search position, has dropped to the middle of the third page of search results.  audio.gif (922 bytes) Listen to the "spanking".  (Quixtar has since returned to the top of the list)

 

spanking2.jpg (3381 bytes)The organized effort to manipulate search engine results was first brought to light by the "Quixtar Blog".   Ironically the site that reported Quixtar's attempt to Google bomb the web's most unbiased search engine now occupies the the first search position under "Quixtar".  In fact the first five hits for the term "Quixtar" are all information sites critical of the Quixtar business opportunity and their lines of sponsorship.  This failed coup must really have the public relations department working overtime now.

Spanking3.jpg (4321 bytes)Quixtar Blog reported in his "So busted" page numerous repetitive Blog posts on the Pro-Quixtar blogs so show the concerted effort by Quixtar to "spam" the internet with useless information.  Quixtar Blog had identified at least 42 Blogs participating in the spamming.  Since the exposure many of the blogs have shut down or reduced their content. 

 

bath_wall.jpg (5445 bytes)It will be interesting to see if Google also moves against the individual lines of sponsorship who are also participating in the web graffiti initiative.   It is a bitter sweet irony that the lines of sponsorship who complain that the web is the audio.gif (922 bytes)"bathroom walls" of society and the Quixtar lines of sponsorship happen to be the largest abusers.
