I went to the Quixtar site and put 21 items in my cart and printed out the Order Detail with costs. I did NOT include vitamins or Artistry make-up so as to avoid debate on the quality issue. This is an apples to apples comparison. Armed with my printout, I headed to my local Wal-Mart. (I live in a major metropolitan city in the Midwest.)

For example, I went to Costco last night and bought massive quantities of consumables to last us the next three months. Here is a mini price comparison. The items were not chosen because of their Quixtar price, it is simply a list of the items I happened to purchase for which Quixtar sells something comparable (Quixtar prices are dist. cost):

I purchased other items but could find nothing comparable at Quixtar. Including, a 64 oz. refill container of softsoap ($4.99), 409 foaming carpet cleaner (2 cans, $6.99) (Quixtar discontinued its Magic Foam), Pampers, produce and name brand food items that don't directly compare to Quixtar. 

Average pyramid premium on the six comparable items from my shopping list, even without including the dog food, Quixtar was over 90% higher than Costco.
