Crown Ambassador Dexter Yager
Pays $125,000 in Copyright Suit

On April 15, 2003 Leslie Giblin, author of the book "Skill with people", filed suit against Dexter Yager, Doyle Yager, and InterNET Services Corp. for copyright violations. Giblin charges the Yagers with selling an "infringing book", Basic People Skills - Everyday Skills For Success.

Giblin claims the infringing book directly copies and paraphrases the content and format of, and the expression of the ideas behind, "Skill with People". A comparison of the table of contents of the two books shows the substantial similarity and the outright copying of Mr. Giblin's work. The original copy of the complaint .

This is not the first case where an Amway/Quixtar motivational organization has infringed Mr. Giblin's copyright. Network 21 was sued for unauthorized translations of the book.

On August 8, 2003 Yager was ordered by the court to pay Giblin $125,000

Yager claimed that a supposed uncopyrighted 1956 version of the book gave him public domain use of the works, after the 28-year copyright expired passing the book into the public domain. The reference to a supposed 1956 copy came from an image on Giblin's Web site. In subsequent testimony, the author of the Web site, the grandson of Gibilin, filed an affidavit that he made a mistake with the date, which actually referred to another book published by Giblin in 1956, "How to have confidence and power in dealing with people". website affidavit . Neo Publishing who has exclusive rights to publish the book also stated the first printing of the book was in 1968.

Steven Kushner, (Kushner affidavit ) the attorney for Giblin in the Network 21 suit, stated that even though there were no claims against the Yagers in the Network 21 suit, the Yagers entered in a joint defense agreement with Network 21 never the less. In that case Network 21 filed a counterclaim of extortion against Giblin. Upon settlement Network 21 submitted a letter of apology relating to its allegations of extortion. It was also stated that Internet then voluntarily removed the Yager book from the market, without any request for immunity to the Yagers.
