How to Set Up a Plan

The following is from some distributor material a site visitor sent me.

HOW TO MAKE A PHONE CALL

This may be the most uncomfortable thing you'll ever have to do in your business as you get started. But after a few calls it will become a "piece of cake." After you have developed your list, the next step is to get through the list as quickly as possible.

Remember if you don't call these folks, someone else will. Understand they will not be working for you, ifs what you can do for them that is important.

The phone call should be quick, to-the-point and should create some curiosity and value. Get in a room by yourself where there are no distractions. Have your list with all the telephone numbers in front of you. Start with the goal of filling up two meetings. Try to get 1 0 to 15 "yes's" for each meeting. Don't worry about there not being enough room for the people to sit down. There is nothing more exciting than a packed house.

HERE IS THE FORMAT:

RELAX AND HAVE FUN

1) Establish rapport.

2) Be in a hurry.

3) Clear the night.

4) Purpose of the call.

5) Create value.

6) Say good-bye.

BE BRIEF - ANSWER A QUESTION WITH A QUESTION

Why Can't I Tell My Friends More About It?

Why The Word Amway May Scare Some People!

It's your business so you can do whatever you want to do. Over the years we have found that people have developed some gross misconceptions about "Amway.'

There are a myriad of reasons why misconceptions exist. Remember you now know more about Amway than 95% of the people in America. You have the whole story; others do not.

We have found that some of the new distributors joining in the business today have been in Amway at least once before, but, back then, it was a completely different business. A large number of the Diamonds in Amway have developed their successful networks by working in conjunction with Amway for products and services and with the optional educational system for training and motivation; a system that wasn't previously available or as well developed.

Again, it is your business and you can do what you want to do. Our job is simply to advise you as to what has worked in the past and what hasn't. Never deceive people. Never tell them it isn't Amway. Never ask them over for dinner or to a party and then spring the plan on them unexpectedly. Always be truthful, but don't deprive your friends and relatives of a fantastic opportunity because of a preconceived notion they may have of an "Amway" that didn't exist.

Why not get with your upline and, from the ideas that you have reviewed, write out an invitation that you feel comfortable with. What exactly are you going to say? Be prepared. Not stiff, but prepared.

What is going to be your response when you are asked "What is it?" or "is it Amway?" Be prepared. The prospects will ask questions like this. They probably read the prospect manual! Write out your answer an answer that sounds like you which follows the format. REMEMBER - HAVE FUN.

Here is an example:

Invitation to an Introductory Session in a Home

  1. Hello Jim/Mary, this is I know it's been a while since we've talked. How's everything going? How are the (wife/husband) and kids? - or - How's your family? I assume things are going well at work?
  2. Jim/Mary, I'm in a hurry - or - I just have a minute.
  3. Are you free night? - or - Do you have anything scheduled for night?
    1. Nothing why?
    2. Are you sure? I have something I want to get your opinion on, so check with your (wife / husband) and make sure you don't have any other commitments.

    3. Busy, why? (Have a second option)
    4. How about__________ night?

    5. If they are busy that night also.
  1. You know even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once in awhile and I've come across a concept that has been working extremely well worldwide in terms of leveraging time and generating dollars and I've asked a gentleman to stop by on_______ (night) for an hour to explain some of the details.

I'm not really qualified at this point to answer any questions, but he agreed to permit me to have a couple of folks here that I respect in order to share the concept by them.

You can't spend any money. You'd just be here to watch and listen, and I'd really like to hear what you think. It's NOT a get rich quick scheme, but does appear to have great financial potential.

    1. What is it?
    2. Like I said I'm really not qualified to answer any questions and I don't have the final say anyway, but it's the fastest growing foreign business in Japan. Have you ever read a book called Megatrends? It discusses the basic concept in that book.

    3. Is it Amway?
    4. Yes. What perception do you have of Amway:? That of a door to door soap company or that of a high-tech Interactive Distribution company that carries thousands of items they and hundreds of other companies manufacture AND that gives people a chance to build their own business and future.

    5. Is it Fund America, Nu Skin, etc.?
    6. No. These companies have taken a time-proven concept and adapted it to fit their corporate structure. Imagine having the opportunity to affiliate with one of the companies that developed this concept. People who work hard have the opportunity to make a lot of money using this concept, but they also want a solid stable company backing them. Imagine this concept except instead of having just a few household type goods (soap, cleaners, etc.), you have access to thousands of other items at reduced prices. It's just like owning your own shopping center. Doesn't that sound great?

    7. Is this a pyramid?
    8. Like I said I'm not really qualified to answer any questions, but I know for sure it's not an illegal pyramid. I wouldn't be involved in a business like that. This marketing plan has been reviewed by the Federal Trade Commission.

Just come take a look and tell me what you think. If it turns out to be as good as it looks, I don't want you asking me why I didn't call you about it. So you and________ (wife / husband name), leave your checkbook at home and come on over for coffee at 8:00 p.m., on________ night. You'll be home by 1 0:00.

    9. Can you tell me more?
    10. Look, I know you are a busy person and I would never waste your time. I'm really not qualified to tell you any more, but it's like having access to your own shopping center. Just come take a look and tell me what you think. If it turns out to be as good as it looks, I don't want you asking me why I didn't call you about it. So you and_____ (wife / husband name), leave your checkbook at home and come on over for coffee at 8:00 p.m. on_________ night. You'll be home by 1 0:00. If nothing else, it will be good to see you.

    11. Does my (wife / husband) have to be there?

If it turns out to be something that catches your interest, it certainly would be easier to have (her / him) there instead of you trying to explain it to (her / him) when you get home. Take a break with an evening out of the house. It'll be good to see you both.

  1. I'd really appreciate your opinion and, who knows, you might even be interested yourself. You check out ways to diversify your income, don't you? I thought so. Well, the gentleman said to only talk to people whose opinions I respected, and I thought of you first; but I have to know if you are going to be there because, if you're not, I have someone else to call.
  2. a) I'll try to get there.

Well, Jim/Mary, my Grandfather used to say when someone tells you they're going to try to get some place, it means there is a strong chance they're not coming, I know you are a (man / woman) of your word and if you say you'll be there, you'll be there. This is important, so I need to know if you are coming. If you're not, I have someone else to call.

  3. Jim/Mary, I know you're a (man / woman) of your word and if you say you'll be here, you'll be here. Like I said, I'm in a hurry, so I'll see you_____ night at 8:00 sharp. If something comes up, please give me 24 hours notice.

Invitation to an Introductory Seminar in a Hotel

  1. Hello Jim/Mary, this is I know it's been a while since we've talked. How's everything going? How are the (wife / husband) and kids? - or - How's your family? I assume things are going well at work?
  2. Jim/Mary, I'm in a hurry - or - I just have a minute.
  3. Are you free_____ night? - or - Do you have anything scheduled for_______night?
    1. Nothing, why?
    2. Are you sure? I have something I want to run by you, so check with your (wife / husband) and make sure you don't have any other commitments.

    3. Busy, why? (Have a second option).
    4. How about______ night?

    5. If they are busy that night also.

OK great. I have a concept I want to run by you and, like I said, I'm in a hurry so I'll get back with you later. Glad to hear you're doing well. I'll talk to you later. Bye.

  1. Jim/Mary, you know I have been looking at ways to generate more income (create more time, diversify our time, create more security, etc.) and even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once in a while.
  2. I was introduced to a business concept that has been extremely successful all over the world and some people I know are expanding the business in the local area. I'm really not qualified to answer any questions, but I would really like to have the chance to share this concept with you.

This is a good group of people and they are having an Introductory Seminar on______ night at 8:00 p.m. and the details of the operation will be explained. (I / we) would like to pick you (and your wife / husband) up around 7:45 and take you with (me/us).

You can't spend any money or buy anything. This isn't the latest illegal pyramid scheme to come through town. I just really respect you and would like to run this concept by you. I know you're a busy (man / woman) and I wouldn't waste your time. Who knows? It might even be something that you'd be interested in. Plus, it will be good to see you.

  3. I'd really appreciate your thoughts and, who knows, you might even be interested yourself. You check out ways to diversify your income, don't you? I thought so. Dropping Off an Ad Pak

Hand Out Procedure

There are some people you know fairly well and you can just drop by and quickly leave the Ad Pak. However, if you feel you need to call them first, here are some suggestions for the call:

"Hi, _________(name). This is __________(your name). I've got some important information that I would like you to look at. Are you going to be home for the next 15 minutes so I can drop it off? I can't stay because I'm in a hurry. See you in a few minutes."

If they ask any questions, just say: "The information I'll be giving you will explain all that" - or - Just say: "It's in the Pak!"

When you get to the house: leave the engine running, the door open, the lights on, and do NOT go inside the house.

    1. What to say at the door for people that you called first:
    2. "Here is the information I told you about on the phone. I don't understand everything, but I'm excited about what I've seen. I need this material back tomorrow, so go over the material tonight and call me or I'll call you tomorrow." (Leave quickly and do not discuss the business or answer any questions if at all possible).

If they ask a question, tell them, "It's in the Pak. Go over the material and it will give you an overview of the concept we are talking about. I've really got to be going, so go over the Pak tonight and I'll get back with you tomorrow."

    3. When you drop by someone's home unexpectedly, simply do the following:
      1. If they are not at home - leave the Ad Pak in the door and enclose this note:
      2. "Here's some important information I'd like you to look at. I don't understand everything, but I'm excited about what I've seen. I need this material back tomorrow, so go over the material tonight and call me or I'll call you tomorrow."

      3. If they are home.

"Here's some important information I'd like you to look at. I don't understand everything, but I'm excited about what I've seen.

    1. If only the (wife / husband) is home - still leave the Ad Pak and tell (her / him) the following: to (name), it is important that (her / his name) looks over this material and listens to the tape tonight. Tell (her / him name) I'll be in touch with (her / him) tomorrow to get the material back."

Call Back Procedure

"Jim/Mary, I've learned more about the program. The more I learn, the more excited I am about it. I need my Pak back, and I also need to set up an appointment for you to see the program."

If (he / she) says - "Ok" - Set up a definite time to show them the marketing plan.

If (he / she) says - "I like what I heard but the Pak didn't tell me anything - or - explain the concept." Answer with "That's OK. The Pak is pre-qualification material and since you liked the overview you've qualified to learn more! Now, you know you won't be wasting your time when we get together. I need my Pak back, and I also need to set up an appointment for you to see the program."

If (he / she) says - "I need more time" - or - "I have not gone over the information." Ask "If I leave the Pak one more night, will you be sure to take the time to listen to it?" (Wait for response).

If (he / she) says - "I'm not interested." - say - "That's great. It's

not for everyone, but I need to get my Pak back." (Don't try to argue or convince them they are wrong).

Posture Contact

"I have associated myself with a group of business people in a distribution network and we have access to thousands of items and services from several hundred manufacturers - everything from chewing gum to coffee. We are expanding in the local area now. I'm not in a position to promise you anything, but if you are interested I can get you some information on interactive distribution."

"If I get you a tape and some literature on interactive distribution, how soon would you be able to listen to the tape and read the literature?" - Set up to get information to them.
